De HAMMOND XB-3

Met de XB-3 doet HAMMOND weer een enórme stap om met lichtere, onderhoudsvrijere technieken het "originéél" zo perfect mogelijk te benaderen. Het meubel heeft de traditionele kenmerken.
Doordat originele toonwielen elkaar enorm beinvloeden/ interfereren en leakage(lekstroompjes) ontstaan, die ook weer heerlijke bijgeluiden toevoegen aan de Hammond sound gaat Hammond niet alléén maar aan het samplen, maar voegt door de DRB-techniek deze geluiden nu ook toe zoals hieronder later wordt beschreven met het engelse woord "idiosyncrasies" (dit betekent: "eigenaardigheden") toe te voegen aan het geheel.

Wéér was een grote stap gedaan. Nu waren ook de klavieren ook zowel aanslaggevoelig als boden ze after-touch! (dóórdrukken ná aanslag)

DRB® sampling technology captures the sound and feel of the incomparable B-3.
The idea of 'sampling a B3' has been around for a long time. But just sampling and adding Drawbars is not enough. Hammond has also recreated those idiosyncrasies of the electro-mechanical tone wheel generator which have eluded all previous digital sound producing systems.
This new, virtual Tonewheel Generator flawlessly generates the pure harmonic sound of its predecessor the B-3. And then goes on to add other variations as the Drawbar foldbacks at the top and bottom octaves, the variances in key click ( een "mitterailleurbandje" van key-click-samples werd met iedere volgende aanslag "random"afgespeeld) and an actual internal 'tube' for the effect of overdriving a tube amplifier.

The XB-3 can perform in virtually any MIDI environment.
SEND and RECEIVE channels are programmable.
LOCAL keyboard control can be turned ON or OFF and the manuals can be mapped to selectively play the internal sounds or sounds from a connected MIDI device.
MIDI velocity information and after-touch can be transmitted along with Pitch and Modulation controls.
The MEMORY DUMP allows Preset data to be stored to a MIDI Data recorder.
